Can the cables be connected to an economy white meter circuit? Yes. They can but to gain full benefit you may wish to construct a storage floor heating system as opposed to direct acting. How long will it take to warm the room? In-screed underfloor heating systems will take several hours to warm-up from cold, it is therefore not designed to be switched on & off like traditional radiators. The heating system is designed to be semi-permanent heating where just a few degrees change in temperature is required over a 24 hour period. The night function of the thermostat allows you to drop the temperature by a few degrees during the unoccupied periods in order to reduce energy costs. How is the system regulated? The heating is regulated with our digital thermostat with built in timer, it has both day & night settings to ensure optimum comfort conditions are achieved. How do I calculate the required heat output? For a new building a heat loss calculation should be undertaken to ensure the heating is sufficient to meet your needs. As a guideline we usually supply our cables at heat outputs of 120-150 watts per square metre for new domestic buildings & 170 - 200W per square metre for underfloor heating in  conservatories & areas with high heat loss. Can the cables be used below thick flagstone floors? Yes. But they must be set in a thin screed before the flagstones are fixed. The minimum installation depth to achieve an even heat distribution is 30-50mm (including the stone floor). Why do these cables have to be installed in a concrete screed? The DVCU20 cables are 6mm diameter & have a higher heat output than the thinner cables we supply (20 watts per linear metre). They therefore require a thicker surrounding conductive mass to distribute the heat equally. If they were installed directly below thin tiles they would give uneven heating.
