Tile Backing Insulation Boards
----------------------------------------

This is the perfect way to insulate any room when laying underfloor heating where an adhesive is required to stick the flooring down (i.e. ceramic, slate, stone, marble, etc).

Uninsulated floors will act as a heat sink absorbing most of the heat energy created by the underfloor heating, if you choose not to insulate the floor before installing underfloor heating you will find that the power usage will be at least double that of the same system with insulation.

By installing insulation between the subfloor and the underfloor heating system the heat energy is forced upwards through the floor covering, this will ensure the rooms ambient temperature is reached more efficiently and allow the thermostat to switch as needed.

By adding insulation boards to your installation you will immediatly save upto 50% on your heating cost compared to installing on a bare subfloor.

Lightweight and very Strong

A high ratio of mechanical strength to weight gives excellent spanning capabilities and makes our insulation boards highly portable and superb on-site managability. They can support weights of 30+ tonnes per meter square.

High Water & Moisture resistance

The closed cell structure of the insulation boards minimises water absorption offering protection against damage or deterioration when exposed to the damp.

Bonding properties

The smooth, dust free, surface provides an optimum base for bonding and laminating.

Application

The generic form of insulation boards are used as an insulation in double glazed doors & windows, caravans, lofts, wall cavity insulation, floors and much more.

What is an insulation board?

A load bearing Insulation Board is similar to a standard construction board, but does not include the cementitious outer face.

Tile Backing Construction boards consist of an inner sheet of insulation coated with a reinforced, cementitious outer face to give them extra rigidity. This extra rigidity allows the construction board to be used as wallboards to tile on, especially suited for wet situations.

Insulation board - Technical details

Insulation is now better than ever before with higher strength and better insulation values making it the number one choice.

Not only is it more cost effective but comes recommended by the market leading adhesives company Granfix. Granfix have carried out a multitude of test with their adhesive and screeding agents and have concluded that our insulation boards are highly compatible.

Below is a few definitions of common phrases used with insulation. What is important to remember is that the Government have changed the way that houses are rated to be energy efficiency under "Part L" of building regulations.

Resistance
The measure of a material's ability to resist heat flow. The formula for Thermal Resistance is R = L / k where (L) is the material's thickness and (k) is the material's Thermal Conductivity constant. The higher a material's R-value, the better it insulates, and conversely.

Thermal Conductivity
The heat energy that will be transmitted by conduction through 1 square foot of 1 inch thick material in one hour when there is a difference of 1 degree Fahrenheit perpendicularly across two surfaces of the material.

U Value
The rate of heat loss, in British thermal units per hour, through a square foot of a surface (wall, roof, door, windows, or other building surface) when the difference between the air temperature on either side is 1° Fahrenheit. The U-value is the reciprocal of the R-Value.
